THE CABLE CAR IN SANTO DOMINGO

The first public cable transport system in the Caribbean has been operating for several months in Santo Domingo. The oldest city in the New World resorted to these means to accommodate its rapid urban growth. This new and alternative means of transport was born mainly to integrate the transport of commuters along a stretch of the existing subway, but it has also become a curiosity for tourists and locals.

The general development throughout the country and communication systems such as airports (eight international ones), seaports, highways and fast internet networks increasingly attract foreign investment. They are very marked signs of growth and the acquisition of a more important role of the D.R. in the Caribbean and Central America.

Naturally, all sectors of national life benefit from this growth. In the real estate sector, the possibilities of making smart investments grow, thanks to the favorable taxation and incentive laws in force. It is also possible to buy a holiday home or to settle in the country, enjoying interesting financing from the credit system.

Last but not least, there’s the possibility to re-rent the property throughout the year, thanks to the optimal climate that is enjoyed in the Dominican Republic during all twelve months; a reason which favors the increase of foreign tourism in this beautiful island.
